Sometimes taking a child to the dentist can be difficult and quite stressful. However, did you know there are things you can do to increase your chances of your child having a positive and successful dental appointment? Well, it’s true, and our Sukyoung Ahn DDS dental team is happy to tell you what those things are.

First, bring your child in to see Dr. Sukyoung Ahn at the right time. It’s recommended to bring your child in for treatment at a time they won’t be grumpy. It’s best to avoid bringing them into our office during their naptime or at a time when they need to eat. For older children, it’s best to not bring them in right after school or extracurricular activities. Usually, kids don’t have the energy to deal with an appointment after these things.

Second, be an example for your child. It’s best to schedule your appointment, if you have one, before your child’s appointment. That way they can watch you while you’re in the dental chair and know that if you can do it, they can do it.

Third, leave your dental anxiety at home. If you feel stressed, nervous, or anxious, your child will most likely feel those things as well. So, it’s important to come to our office feeling confident, carefree, and relaxed. In addition, our team also asks you to keep your cool if your child fails to cooperate. If you fight with and yell at your child, it will only make matters worse and your child could grow to hate the dental office.

Do you have any questions about these provided tips? If so, please don’t be afraid to call Sukyoung Ahn DDS at 530-342-0104 at your earliest convenience. Our dental team will be happy to talk with you and tell you more about how to help your child have a positive dental appointment in Chico, California. We look forward to hearing from you!
